  IDOMA DELIGHT; OKOHO SOUP Okoho is the main traditional soup of the Idoma people, it is also known as OTUTULU by the Agatu people. Okoho soup is made out of a medicinal stem scientifically known as Cissus Populnea. To prepare this soup, you'll need ingredients like Bush meat, any other protein of your choice, Okoho stem, Okpehe( Locust bean), Pepper, Seasoning and Palm oil which is totally optional.   Let's take you through a step by step process on how to make this delight: 1. Scrap off the bark from the Okoho stem and shred the stem into strands by hitting it with a pestle. 2. Place the shredded strand in hot water, allow to soak for a few minutes then squeeze the stem till it becomes slimy. Remove the stem and set the slimy extract apart. 3. A BRIEF HISTORY OF ADOKA

  The district is bordered by Ugboju, Ankpa, Apa and Gwer L.Gs. The name was derived from Adoka, father of Okalekwo, the progenitor. Okalekwo was born into a thundering night at Apa(Kwararafa) and was nicknamed Akpabana. He left the region with his family following the invasion by Kanem-Bornu horsemen heralded by black monkeys(that's why Adoka don't eat black monkeys). He settled at Abinsi where he died leaving three sons Enyikwola, Adoka and Ode. Ode was taken to Ekle by his mother and Adoka was killed during a hunt. Enyikwola killed all those who killed his brother and was sentenced to death by the Abiseku of Abinsi for killing 3 in place of 1 but an old woman gave him a talisman with which he escaped in a whirl wind, the celebrated Ogbonoko in Adoka Ejalekwu to this day. Enyikwola then left with his family and that of his deceased brother to present day Adoka and then went to Ekle to find Ode.  THE IDOMA HISTORY! The origin of the name Idoma remained a mystery but some believe that there was once a man called Idu Oma who is the father of all Idoma people.The Idoma people once lived as a community in Apa, a place north east of the present Idoma land located in what is now southern Adamawa and Nothern Taraba. Evidence showed that the Idoma people have lived around the Benue valley for more than 3,000 years. Another mysterious idomoid people known as Akpoto were noticed to be the earliest inhabitants of the region occupied today by Idoma, Tiv, Igala, Ebira and Basa. Evidence drawn from rites, songs and folklores showed that the Idoma at Apa achieved a great civilization with a centralized government and were advanced in warfare, trade, crafts and they probably traded with ancient Egypt, Nubia, Nok before the rise of the Hausa city states, Kanem- Bornu and Kwararafa of the Jukuns.  The rise of these Kingdoms was detrimental to the Idoma at Apa.
